Real Lessons in Reel Life

This presentation is by no account an attempt to critically analyse the art of movie making or storytelling. What I try to lay out here is an endeavour to share my experience of learning a thing or two from hours of self-indulgence in the reel world of imagination.

We, in our childhood, at least, myself, were restricted in our exposure to the ‘harmful rays’ of movies and television. We were told that they might take away our focus from our primary aim in life, i.e., study hard, get good grades and get a professional degree and live happily forever.

Almost after doing all of the above, minus living happily parts, I was drawn into my lifelong interest, watching all the old movies that I had missed when they were big hits during their time. We missed them either because they never made it to our shores or, well, it was just not possible to appreciate them because of immaturity. After going through the gruelling experiences of the School of Hard Knocks in Life, many things make sense now.

Now, I can almost see clearly now. In this offering, I highlighted some real life lessons that I learnt from reel life. I also made some salient points regarding each one of them and were depicted at the end of each movie. They are by no means, a literary review.
